Spotify Better Than Myspace?

Is Spotify Better than Myspace?

They are quite different beasts of the internet, that’s for sure, but the one thing they have in common is that they are huge sights for music. Not just huge. They are both massive. Myspace started out as a social networking site that began to specialize in bands and music after it lost mainstream social networking ground to competitors, notably Facebook. Spotify started out as a streaming music service and has stayed true to its roots while building a strong base of fans. It is popular in many countries and boasts millions of unique users to its site each month.

Who is more Consistent, Myspace Or Spotify?

Spotify has kept the same name since it started at least and has started out by making its music platform available only by invitations. to get your account activated, you would need a spotify invite how to get one 2010 through a website or through a friend. Myspace can’t seem to decide who it is. It started as MySpace, changed to My_____ and finally became Myspace. Among users trying to find a consistent online identity, this inability to find its own identity has undoubtedly cost Myspace valuable unique users.

Does Myspace Offer more Music than Spotify?

Spotify offers tons and tons of music. Spotify offers as much or more music than any site on the internet. It offers this content as streaming content and users have subscriptions. an unlimited subscription is not expensive and costs a user less than buying one compact disc per month. Myspace doesn’t offer nearly the selection of songs that Spotify does and most of the songs Myspace offers aren’t from premium and recognized artists. however, there are a lot of songs available for free on Myspace by unsigned artists. Most of these songs are not available anywhere else, so Myspace does offer some unique value over Spotify in the unsigned artist category. however, a major artist’s page on Myspace might only offer a few of their hits, whereas Spotify generally has all of their music available. Spotify simply offers more music and more variety than Myspace.

Does Spotify or Myspace Have The Best Social Networking Integration?

On the face of it, one might think Myspace would be better for social networking. It is not. Spotify integrates with Facebook and Twitter. Since more of one’s friends are likely to use Facebook than any other social networking service, this makes Spotify superior to Myspace for sharing music with friends. Now, in fact, Spotify requires logging in with a Facebook account. This places Spotify at the front of the social networking revolution. Myspace has limited itself to one aspect of social networking and is struggling even in those areas.

Does Myspace Protect User Data Better than Spotify?

Myspace has had a bumpy road in terms of protecting user information too. Trust is a major consideration for users of social networking and music sites. They need to know that their information is secure and not being shared or exposed in an unsafe or unauthorized manner. Spotify has an excellent track record of protecting user information. Myspace, on the other hand, has repeatedly leaked user photos and other private information to the public, to hackers and to advertisers. Spotify clearly has a better track record protecting user data.

Millions have already signed up for Spotfiy, either through Facebook or by a spotify invite download 2010 through a credible website or through a friend. getting an invite should be completely free. Get onto Spotify today and see what everyone is talking about.

Prep notebook: Injuries can’t derail resolute Mary Star

Posted by admin | Posted in resolute | Posted on 23-02-2012-05-2008

Mary Star’s girls soccer team celebrated its second straight unbeaten Camino Real League title with the push of 11 determined seniors.

But it did not come easily.

The Stars had to deal with a slew of early-season injuries, including Arizona State-bound star Alyssa Martinez missing five matches.

“It all started tumbling down on me,” Mary Star coach Filippo Salvato said.

Yet Mary Star earned a first-round home playoff game in the CIF Southern Section Division VII playoffs, where it will host the Schurr-Tarbut V’Torah winner on Friday.

If Mary Star advances, it would face defending champion and second-seeded Sierra Canyon in the second round, a tough draw as Mary Star tries to advance to its first CIF quarterfinal.

“We had a good shot at league this year and of going far in the playoffs, but it was not a good draw. Not at all,” Salvato said. “For the talent we have, if we play our best game, we have a shot at it. We’re going to try to take it to them.”

Sophomore midfielder Jordyn Alves leads Mary Star with 16 goals and 10 assists, and Salvato calls her “the next great player.” Jenna DiBernardo has been stellar with 16 goals and five assists.

Brittany Radine and Carly Ponce have led the defense.

Look out for no. 1

There is no sleeping on St. Bernard this season.

St. Bernard earned the no. 1 seed in the CIF Southern Section Division V-AA boys basketball playoffs, just a season after advancing to CIF and state finals.

Second-year coach Reggie Morris said his team is primed for a big run.

“Last year we had a great run. we went a lot further than anyone, including myself, could’ve imagined,” Morris said. “It was a great feeling.

“This year we haven’t been able to slide along. we have had to take everyone’s best shot in league, and we expect the same, getting the no. 1 seed in our division. we have to make sure we have something tangible to show for our hard work to make our turnaround of our program even more legit.

“We definitely have our eyes on the CIF title.”

Narbonne not too happy

Narbonne’s boys soccer team wasn’t ecstatic about getting just a no. 7 seed in the L.a. City Section Championships after reaching the South Torrance Holiday Tournament final and capturing the Marine League title, but it does have one thing to be happy about – the health of speedy forward Sergio Cervantes.

Cervantes has been especially effective of late after a season dealing with a hamstring injury and a separated shoulder. He’s finally healthy and it shows. He scored twice against Gardena on Wednesday and three times against Washington on Friday.

A healthy Cervantes makes Narbonne that much more dangerous in the playoffs. Narbonne hosts no. 26 Arleta in the first round on Wednesday.

“I’m healthy now and it feels great to help the team out,” Cervantes said. “We’ll be dangerous in the playoffs. We’re like a family, everyone wants to play hard and give their best. We’ll be ready.”

Knights: Playoff-bound

The Bishop Montgomery girls and boys soccer teams both finished in third place in the Del Rey League and both are bolstered by recent lineup changes heading into the playoffs.

For the Bishop Montgomery girls, star Sarah Glasgow missed three weeks of the season after being involved in a car accident and suffering a whiplash.

But Glasgow returned just in time to score a goal in Bishop Montgomery’s third-place Del Rey League playoff against La Salle, helping her team win 2-0 and advance to the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

For the Bishop Montgomery boys, who have lost a lot of one-goal games and who have been in almost every game despite its 5-11-3 overall mark, moving senior Ian Paiz to forward has given the team a boost.

Flying under the radar

The CAMS boys soccer team quietly had a strong regular season, finishing 13-4-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the Delphic League for second place.

CAMS boasts a young but talented team led by Jesse Zhang and Will Argus, and is looking to do some damage in the CIF Southern Section Division VII playoffs.

“It’s a young team, just two seniors, but they understand the tactical part of game and they are efficient, good scorers and play good defense,” CAMS coach Larant Lassu said.

Heberer joins St. Paul

Former San Pedro High and USC football lineman Zack Heberer has decided to join former Carson coach Elijah Asante’s new staff at St. Paul,.

Heberer was the Marine League’s Player of the Year in 2006 before playing for Pete Carroll on three of USC’s Rose Bowl teams.

Heberer had helped at St. Paul in the last month, but Asante was able to get him a full-time position as a line and strength and conditioning coach.

“He’s great,” Asante said. “He’s a big hire for us. the program is a beast. He has the parents making their kids oatmeal, protein drinks and breakfast burritos. He knows his stuff.”

Asante is also hosting the Asante Trenchman Academy this weekend at St. Paul. the cost is $100 for three days and kicks off Friday night at 6 p.m. with a presentation on how to garner a Division I scholarship. Saturday registration begins at 8 a.m.. Email coachelijah@gmail.com for more information.

Mira Costa signing day

Mira Costa celebrated its large haul of college signees with a ceremony at the school on Friday.

Mira Costa had nine signees in addition to the football signings of kicker Gavin Jernigan with the Naval Academy and Grant Meersand to the University of Hawaii.

Lacrosse had a strong showing with three signings, including Travis Meersand (Colorado), Christopher O’Brien (Georgia Tech) and Dakota Randall (York College).

Water polo player Natalie Lavinsky had an impressive signing with USC.

Volleyball player Katie Warshaw signed with Amherst.

Cross country stars Kelli Sugimoto and Vivien Cherette signed with Loyola Marymount and Chico State.

Soccer player Alexandra Rosen signed with Bucknell. Teddy Sampson signed to play soccer at Fort Lewis College.

Banning returns to field

The Banning baseball team will make its much-anticipated return to its field at this Saturday’s alumni game at 4 p.m.

It will mark the first game at the field since Banning was forced to replace its backstop following damage from last year’s windstorms. It also forced Banning to travel for home games.

Coach John Gonzalez said he plans to have a ceremony before the alumni game to honor those who made the new $100,000 backstop possible.

Gonzalez credited Dr. Richard Vladovic of the School Board and District Superintendent Michael Romero and Principal Robert Lopez. Kaj Paulsson, the owner of Custom Container in Wilmington, donated $36,000 for the backstop. Dan Dickinson was the foreman of the project. Lorie Geluz and Mary Gant led the community push.

Banning’s first home game with its new backstop will be March 3 against South Torrance at 6 p.m.

Westchester coach feted

Westchester football and baseball coach Seka Edwards has been recognized as one of the 16 honorees for the CIF Model Coach Award.

The award honors coaches who are viewed as role models in their schools and communities and who have displayed the virtues of the Pursuing Victory With Honor code.

Huskies still rolling

The Rolling Hills Prep boys basketball team saw its 13-game win streak snapped on the last day of the regular season in a 42-34 loss to New Roads. But the Huskies are not too concerned.

RH Prep has been without 6-foot-10 freshman star Jimbo Lull (broken toe) for a couple of weeks, but Lull is expected to be back when the playoffs open this week.

RH Prep (18-6) is one of the favorites to reach the CIF Southern Section Division V-A final after earning the no. 2 seed in the division.

“We’ve beaten three teams that have been in the top 10 in our division,” Rolling Hills Prep coach mark Fancher said. “I think we can make a good run.”

POLA powers on

The Port of L.a. boys basketball team emerged as a unit to be reckoned with, capturing its first Crosstown League title while being able to run two groups of five players at opponents – rare for a small school.

“The depth on our team is incredible,” POLA coach Peter Riehl said. “We have more than 10 guys who play well together. It shocks teams when we throw a second team of five out there.”

POLA is no. 10 in the L.a. City Small School playoffs. It hosts no. 23 USC-MaST in Wednesday’s first round.

Harbor softball prevails

Harbor College softball player Sarah Barba recorded her first hit of the season, a two-run single in the first inning to set the tone in a 4-1 nonconference win at L.a. Valley College. Natalie Ayala went 2 for 3 with an RBI and also threw a six-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks for Harbor (3-2).

North softball clinic

the defending Pioneer League champion North Torrance softball team will be hosting a clinic for girls grades 1-8 on Monday at North from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be run by current North coaches and players.

The cost is $30 for pre-registration and $40 on the day of the event.

To pre-register, send a $30 check made payable to North High Softball to Wendy Gonzalez at 18813 Haas Ave., Torrance, 90504. Envelopes postmarked by Friday are eligible for the discount.

Call Gonzalez at 310-502-1078 or email her gwendy@socal.rr.com for information.

What Fox’s intervention means for the Budget

Return of the NeoCon

Liam Fox. David Laws. nobody should care what they think. both had to leave their positions for being caught up in some intrigue.

Can there please be a relaxation of employment laws for them i.e. when they’re gone, they’re gone, and stay gone.

Plus, it isn’t ‘shrewed’ to shaft people in the workplace. it is fascism.

Cyprian Latewood 22 February 2012 at 10:10

Perhaps all 16 to 24 year olds should be able to put ‘Adviser to Liam Fox’ on their CV to help them get work.

maxinemf 22 February 2012 at 10:23

Who really cares what Liam Fox thinks. he is history. the key question here is to wait for the enquiry about Adam Werrity. Liam Fox should be then asked to resign his seat. Evidence of clear wrongdoing is why LF had to resign. That Conservative Home still thinks he is a powerful force within the Tory Party tell su all we need to know.

Freeman 22 February 2012 at 10:27

Why are people why are forced to resign for things that would mean the rest of us would never work again – Fox, Laws, Blunkett, Mandelson – treated with respect by the media?

He’s a Joke and It’s a Joke-Not very funny admittedly 22 February 2012 at 10:37

This is why Tories are ‘unsustainable’ as human beings. They may look like them but they haven’t the foggiest on what it takes to be one. What human would be able to look themselves in the mirror and be okay with deriding the rights of others as ‘political objections’ and in following a policy that crushes the poorest and makes the already unasailbly rich more wealthy? we need to step up a campaign to rid the UK of these impostors, perhaps there is a newspaper somewhere that would like to characterise these shells of hate in human form as the rapacious scroungers they really are.

E Hart 22 February 2012 at 11:06

Fox appears to understand very little. the cuts are crucifying the economy already (so why make things worse?); tax cuts for business will reduce income to the exchequer(at a time when business – far from being “crowded out” or filling the void so-to-speak – is a complacent and disinterested backer (e.g. the CBI) of oxymoronic “expansionary austerity” when interest rates are low and cutting workers’ rights in a jobs market – where the ratio of applicants to jobs is 5:1 – will achieve precisely nothing).

As the Werrity farce illustrated, the man is a complacent dud.

Ton of Fun 22 February 2012 at 11:47

“As the Werrity farce illustrated, the man is a complacent dud.”

I just thought he was a c*nt.

ISC 22 February 2012 at 12:10

However, according to the ‘neo-con’ ‘intelligencier’ it is acceptable for bankers bonuses to remain unaffected by the cyclical economic process.

Benjamin Rae 22 February 2012 at 13:07

Fox is a lunatic. has been for years. the fact that he was still such a senior Tory until recently says everything about them. any sensible person who remembers him as a junior minister in the dying days of the Major government would agree he was unbalanced.

The more trouble he causes among the extreme edges of the Tory party the better though. It’s amazing to me he’s ever been taken seriously

Marathonman 22 February 2012 at 13:10

In Liam Fox and most Tories, there is the idea of a human being, but it’s illusory, some kind of abstract. They can hide their cold gaze and you would feel flesh if you gripped their hand. but they are not real people. As we know them anyway.

Pat 22 February 2012 at 13:10

Well, the advantage of this is it demonsrates that behind Cameron’s mask, the Tories are still the nasty party, who have no idea how people live.

E Hart 22 February 2012 at 18:55

HP CEO pleads patience as earnings fall 44 pct

Posted by admin | Posted in finances | Posted on 23-02-2012-05-2008

NEW YORK -Hewlett-Packard co. CEO Meg Whitman pleaded for patience Thursday as she described operational challenges and other internal problems that contributed to a decline in earnings at one of the world’s largest technology companies.even as HP blamed weak consumer demand and supply shortages due to flooding in Thailand for lost revenue opportunities in the latest quarter, Whitman said years of underinvestment in systems and procedures made those problems worse.she described a company in transition and said HP needed to improve internal procedures and reduce costs to free up money for investments in growing areas. she said HP, which now makes much of its revenue from computers and printers, sees opportunities in security services, information management and Internet-based systems known as cloud computing.Whitman described her turnaround plan as a “multiyear journey.”"I feel very good that we know the challenges,” she said. “We know what we’re going to do about them, and we’re headed in the right direction.”HP’s sales to consumers fared the worst in the November-January period, the first full quarter under Whitman. Revenue from consumer products and services fell 23 percent worldwide from a year earlier.HP is the world’s largest maker of PCs, but it’s been performing poorly as buyers in the industrialized world turn their attention to Apple’s iPads and Macs. Meanwhile, the company has been unable to properly capitalize on the growing appetite for PCs in emerging markets.Whitman said HP also had to battle cautious spending by some business customers in the U.S. Worldwide, revenue in the company’s commercial businesses fell 4 percent.the company said it remained guarded about prospects in Europe, although some of the markets elsewhere in the world appear to be stabilizing.HP earned $1.47 billion, or 73 cents per share, in the fiscal first quarter, down 44 percent from $2.6 billion, or $1.17 a share, a year earlier. Adjusted for one-time items, the company earned 92 cents per share, above the 87 cents expected by analysts surveyed by FactSet.Revenue was $30 billion, down 7 percent from $32.3 billion and slightly below expectations of $30.7 billion. the revenue drop was even steeper, 8 percent, when taking out the effect of changes in currency exchange rates. It was the fastest revenue decline for the company since the recession hit 2009 results.HP blamed flooding in Thailand for more than half of its revenue drop. the floods last year disrupted manufacturing of storage drives, a key component in PCs. HP said it decided to divert resources to higher-margin products, but it didn’t do as well as it expected because of ongoing operational problems.”We were not as effective as we needed to be in matching that supply with that demand,” Whitman said during a conference call with analysts.Whitman said the company will focus first on stabilizing its finances and improving its operations. she said the company needs to do better, for instance, at turning orders into products faster than its rivals.and while she described HP as “world class” in buying components, “I’m not sure I’d say we were world class in terms of how we think end to end about supply chain.”Whitman replaced Leo Apotheker in September after a short and stormy reign. Apotheker announced that HP was looking to jettison its PC unit, which has large volume but small profits. that scared off some buyers, who may not have come back when Whitman decided to keep the division.for the current quarter, the Palo Alto, Calif., company said it expects earnings of 88 cents to 91 cents per share. Analysts were expecting 95 cents per share.HP shares fell 37 cents, or 1.2 percent, to $28.60 in extended trading, after the release of the results. Earlier, it fell 41 cents, or 1.4 percent, to close at $28.94.Results were buoyed by HP’s business of providing information technology services to corporations. the company’s second-largest division, after PCs, saw a revenue increase of 1 percent from a year ago.Sales from the printing division, HP’s third-largest, were down 7 percent, and its profitability continued to sag. Sales of printers fell faster than ink and toner sales.—AP Technology Writer Peter Svensson contributed to this report.
