Filming began in Wilmington this week for “Somebody’s Child,” a TV movie starring NAACP Image Award-nominee Michael Jai White.

The film will air on the family-friendly GMC cable channel in August.

White (“Why did I Get Married too?” “we The Party”) will be joined by Emmy and NAACP Image Award-winner Lynn Whitfield (“The Josephine Baker Story,” “Eve’s Bayou”), Nadine Ellis (“Let’s Stay Together”), Clifton Powell (“Ray,” “for Richer or Poorer”), and Byron Minns (“Undisputed”) in the film, according to a GMC news release.

The screenplay, produced by SwirlFilms and written by Siddeeqah Powell, an African-American screenwriter, producer and businesswoman from Atlanta, was runner up in GMC’s 2011 Faith and Family Screenplay Competition.

The competition promotes the development of faith-friendly family entertainment with a focus on the black American cultural experience, according to GMC.com.

“we discovered ‘Somebody’s Child’ as a finalist in the American Black Film Festival’s 2011 GMC Faith and Family Screenplay Competition,”  Brad Siegel, GMC vice-chairman, said in the release.  “Our goal was to find strong and unique stories about families that we could develop and bring to our viewers to uplift and entertain them.”

In the script, a divine twist of fate causes Constance Rivers (Whitfield) and her son Douglas (White), to open their hearts to an ex-convict, Benjamin Sparks (Minns).

Constance, who also suffers from life-threatening kidney disease, suddenly comes face to face with her past when  Douglas and Benjamin learn they are fraternal twin brothers who were separated at birth 37 years ago.

On the verge of losing their mother, the two must work to develop a bond of brotherhood that will give their mother peace.

Director Gary Wheeler (“Heart of Christmas,” “The Trial”) said most people will be able to relate to the story.

“There’s no greater loss a parent can experience than that of a child – no matter the circumstance,” Wheeler said. “to have a second chance is a gift and an inspiration. I’m thrilled to be working with such a talented group of artists who will help me to bring these cherished characters and this heartwarming story to life.”

The production kicked off filming this week at local restaurant Two fat Ladies Over a Simmering Pot. It’s expected to wrap in the next few weeks.

A local casting agent, Vanessa Neimeyer, is hiring extras for filming, according to the release.

For information about extras casting, which will likely be unpaid positions, visit the agent’s Facebook page.

More Proof That Healthy Habits Fight Disease

WEDNESDAY, June 6 (HealthDay News) — Five new studies offer more evidence that healthy habits and preventive care can protect against disease.

The studies looked at how eating fish reduces the risk of colon and rectal cancer; how regular teeth cleaning improves cardiovascular health; how primary-care doctors can help patients lose weight; how low-dose aspirin can reduce cancer risk; and how hypnosis and acupuncture can help people quit smoking.

In one study, Chinese researchers reviewed 41 studies published between 1990 and 2011 and concluded that regularly eating fresh fish reduces the risk of colon cancer by 4 percent and rectal cancer by 21 percent.

Colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death in the Western world. Previous research has found that people who live in countries with high levels of fish consumption are less likely to develop colon or rectal cancer.

In another study, Canadian researchers found that smokers were 4.6 times more likely to quit smoking if they underwent hypnosis therapy and 3.5 times more likely to kick the habit if they had acupuncture, compared to smokers who didn’t have the treatments.

Researchers in Taiwan found that regular tooth scaling (deep cleaning) is associated with a decreased risk for heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular events. They compared nearly 11,000 people who had undergone tooth scaling with nearly 11,000 people who did not receive tooth scaling.

Over an average follow-up of seven years, the tooth-scaling group had a lower incidence of cardiovascular events than the non-scaling group. the more often people underwent tooth scaling, the lower their risk.

In another study, American researchers found that moderately obese patients who followed a weight-loss program supervised by a primary-care doctor lost as much weight as those who went to a weight-loss center, and lost more body fat.

Regardless of whether they used a primary-care clinic or a weight-loss clinic, patients lost an average of 11 percent of their body weight after 12 weeks of treatment. All the patients received behavioral modification sessions and a diet plan partially or fully supplemented by meal replacements.

In the fifth study, Canadian researchers analyzed 23 studies and said there is conclusive evidence that low-dose aspirin has cancer-preventive effects. Low-dose aspirin is commonly used to prevent cardiovascular disease.

The studies were published in the June issue of the American Journal of Medicine.

…buying and selling stocks based on a reactive system…take advantage of that

Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 07, 2012

We begin with the laborious preparation and cooking of rice. against the treatment that we usually do, the process of cooking and washing are reversed. for the rice acquires the necessary texture and clumping, washing the grain is done in oil. Tr5as five or six changes of water let drain the rice and adding coceremos a liter and 400 ml of water (1 Although cookbooks are exhaustively, with cooking times of foods, the truth is that they change depending on the height at which we are. When the water boils in New York is always a little warmer than when it bubbles up in Mexico City. and is that the altitude affects this because, according to altitude, there is more or less pressure. When the schnellkochtopf garzeiten on a liquid, boiling point also increases. to be at a pressure of 1 atmosphere, water boils at 100 degrees. but at a pressure of 217 atmospheres, the boiling point reaches its maximum value: 374 degrees. so imagine how slow it can be cooking a stew to 5,000 meters. My brother and I always argue, and once spoke of "strong claims" where I usually say that do not have to be absolutely certain. I put the example to say that "water boils at 100 ° C" is a very strong statement and is therefore less likely to be true. My brother insisted on that, that water boils at 100 ° C and it's true. However, under atmospheric pressure (as well said Sergio) the temperature at which water boils varies. so that water boils at 100 ° C is less true to say "water, as a rule, boils at 100 ° C in an atmospheric pressure of X". Thus I argued about the imprecision of categorical statements such as "killing is wrong" or "it's involved." it is clear that all have views, nuances and related parts. so things are not so simple or obvious as to affirm without two or three words and believe us we have 100% of the reason, when in fact, I would say 99% that there is nothing to 100%. following your reasoning, your categorical statement that "all have views, nuances and related parts" is unlikely to be true, so it certainly has strong claims. but if there are strong claims, maybe one of them is yours, so who knows .. Um .. is an interesting and complex that of "truth", I'm glad you've taken. but I've always thought that there are certain areas where there is "truth." first of all, I refer to a very interesting reflection of St. Thomas Aquinas. "clearly there is truth. he who denies that there is truth, truth known to exist. if therefore there is no truth, it is true that truth does not exist." so your thinking of "nothing is 100%" contradicts itself, because if that were true, it would be something true. and yet he says that there is nothing true ¿? Contradiction is a false statement. true, it's pretty overwhelming, but somehow, within the message, incorporates many words that add uncertainty to the claim, such as views, nuances and relative. maybe in my statement quantity of words is emphatic, but not so content. at no time do not deny the existence of something. Simply deny the existence of something than 100%. who has said that things just are or are not? no other degrees or magnitudes? That's what I mean when I express to 100%. Your car is not 100% blue still you say that "my car is blue" or be killed is 100% wrong when you say "killing is wrong." killing, as the case may be fine (without going further, to live we have to kill other living things to feed them. is that bad?). that is, do not deny that nothing can exist, simply deny the fact that something, anything, can be 100% of its definition and all. Therefore, I believe that when a more detailed statement, most likely to be true. "My car is a blue hue on the outer skin that makes doors, sides, roof, front and back" is more accurate to say "my car is blue." because your car has parts that are not blue interior, exterior parts that are not blue, has parts like crystals that have no apparent color and also your car "is not" blue, in any case, your car is blue. and that's without going to discuss what kind of blue can be the color of the car .. if you say that the paintwork of your car reflects light at a wavelength of 450-495 nm between saying you would not be an absolute truth?. In this comment you've made things clearer Aylos, yet I still think that there is a contradiction. for example, with what you said about the blue car and about killing (very good examples), we agree that there are nuances in what we regard as "truth." Imagine even that everything is shades or quantities (is what your statement says you?). Your approach would be true in all areas (or that's what he implies, "simply deny the fact that something, anything, can be 100% of its definition and absolute"). then, this approach would not have shades or magnitudes would be 100% true (do not tell me this is a lie, because it is so, if that is not true 100%, while there should be something that has no variables) . and that same approach, being 100% true and not contain figures or levels, is destroying the claim that all truths are nuanced, magnitudes or levels. xdd if, with that you're still leaving things even clearer. then again, maybe if the car is dirty or over time, quality and quantity of reflection varies so it is hard to even say exactly how much it reflects. Besides, I doubt that all the car's body reflects the light SAME WAY. Surely, even you could make a statistical, parties have more impurities that would reflect different wavelengths. Cendrero, if it is true that it is paradoxical. it is similar to Socrates' famous comment "just do not know anything", so, you know something, you know nothing, and that's more than nothing. but the claim is protected in part, because by saying that "99% sure that nothing is 100%" give room for the 1% that could be precisely the failure of self-assertion. that is, contemplate that possibility, but as something more "improbable" that not impossible. Anyway I do not think that this law applies to anything and situation, however, at the level of society, I think many times we make such mistakes, say things like absolute and unchanging when in fact there are many even points should be discussed. if you now you go out and tell people if water boils at 100 ° C, almost everyone will say "yes", but the politically correct answer would be "if, as a general rule." that is, adding that "general rule" we understand that sometimes it is possible that the water grass at 100 ° C, so we make a mistake much lower compared to the first statement. Yes, that deep down we do not say exactly the truth, but truth is more acceptable than the other. nor speak of complexity of the claim as to "amount" of information. because under that premise, I could give you a list 461534684 descriptive details of a lie, and it would still be a lie (just elaborate would be a lie). We could say that everything is based on accuracy and appreciation of the statement, the more accurate and valuable is less likely to contain an error (not to mention the fact that we want to tell a lie on purpose). It's a bit like the laws and how they are written. In essence a law may say "killing is wrong", but if we say only that, there are hundreds and thousands of lakes within the law itself a breach plowing so easily simply be absurd (as he said about killing animals for live). Therefore, the law requires many details to be more effective. We say it is illegal to kill a person when they commit a murder (for example), defining murder as crime against human life, of a very specific, that is to kill a person concurring circumstances such as premeditation, price, reward or promise of remuneration and cruelty, deliberately and inhumanly increasing the pain of the victim. so we went from a "killing is wrong" a definition much more complex and somewhat successful than it actually is wrong. Well, I say today's asinine, if zero is the temperature at which water freezes and 100 to the seething, which is displaced is the scale of temperature at different altitudes?. Does the pressure inside the thermometer is always the same because it is sealed at the factory pressure or vacuum inside and did not mind the pressure because he always expands or contracts the vacuum mercury?. I've seen in the wiki than 0 º C and 100 correspond to congelaciíon and boiling but P = 1 atm. so now I have clarified myself, the boiling pt up or down depending on the pressure =

L’Bel, Product Review

An entrepreneur and I happened to be chatting about the company for which she is a representative. a believer in her product, she offered to send me complementary items to try. I informed her that I would do her one better. I announced that upon receiving the products, I would write a review, for you, ethnic beauties. therefore, I must first mention the company that makes these items. an international brand, L’Bel is the brain child of Belcorp – a corporation with more than 40 years of beauty industry experience. L’Bel has developed a broad spectrum of skin care solutions that are said to enhance its patrons’ natural beauty. The company also has a complete line of makeup, fragrance, and body, as well as hair care products. upon reading that skin is L’Bel’s passion, I looked forward to trying the following products for oily skin from their ‘Essential’ line…Purifying foam cleanser – with its spring green color and light fragrance that is reminiscent of cucumber and white flowers, it does what it promises. this cleanser gently removes oil and makeup. It also claims to remove dead skin cells…and strangely enough, within a few days I noticed that my skin looked fresher and brighter. love it! this will definitely be a purchase of mine.Mattifying lotion toner – this is different from any toner that I have used. It needs to be shaken up and when used, it does not cause the skin to feel irritated as some astringent toners do. said to tighten pores and refine the skin, it deftly removes any final traces of oil that may be left on the skin after cleansing. this toner did not leave my skin feeling tight either. After using it, each time I simply feel natural. Lovely.for all skin types, the moisturizing eye and face makeup remover lotion is a dream. Initially, I did not think I would like this product, but I was wrong. It smoothly and easily removes not only stubborn eye makeup, but lipstick and other makeup as well. I like that I can use a little on a cotton ball and quickly get the job done.I noticed that L’Bel offers a 30+ line of products to combat the first signs of aging that begins around a woman

Thunder vs Spurs: Kevin Durant Must Be More Assertive to Lead OKC to Game 3 Win

Posted by admin | Posted in kevin durant | Posted on 07-06-2012-05-2008

The Oklahoma City Thunder belongs to Kevin Durant, and he needs to remind his teammates of that tonight in Game 3.

Well, mostly just Russell Westbrook, who took seven more shots than the scoring champ in Game 2, yet Durant outscored him 31-to-27. through two games, Westbrook is shooting a woeful 37 percent from the field, missing 28 of his 45 shots in the series. He only has 13 assists, despite possessing the ball far more than any other player on the floor. He also has taken 11 more shots.

Durant is shooting over 50 percent from the field, and is drawing fouls whenever he wants to. his long arms on top of a 6’9’’ frame allow him to blow past taller defenders, and back down smaller ones.

The Spurs have not shown the ability to get consistent stops against Durant in this series after two games, which is why he leads both teams with a 29 point average.

Tony Parker has been able to successfully bait Westbrook into shooting bad shots, and is clearly winning their battle on both ends of the floor. He’s beginning to get inside Westbrook’s head.

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

The 23-year-old is reverting back to his old ways, last seen in the Western Conference Finals a year ago against the Dallas Mavericks. He wants to desperately be the guy to save this team, but can’t do it shooting over 20 times a game.

Only Durant can.

There was a moment that really stood out in Game 2, towards the end of the third quarter, where the Spurs were up 14 with roughly a minute to go in the third quarter. the Thunder needed to get a quality shot if they wanted to enter the fourth quarter only down 10.

At the time, Durant had just scored, giving him 27 for the game. He looked completely unstoppable at that particular moment.

This is where Durant needs to be more vocal; he needed to demand the ball. instead, Westbrook rushed the ball down the floor and shot a horrific deflating airball that was completely ill-advised with 20 seconds still on the shot clock.

In Game 3, if Durant gets on a roll, he needs to ensure that Westbrook knows where the ball is going.

Brett Deering/Getty Images

The beauty of the point guard position is the sheer amount of control one player has over everything else. Westbrook has all the power, which is a dangerous thing at times. right now the Thunder are in the danger-zone.

If the Spurs and their ridiculously efficient offense puts them up by 10 or more early on, is Westbrook going to resort to “hero ball”?

It’s a question Durant can’t answer, and if the solution is allowing the forward to bring the ball up, so be it.

This isn’t a time to coddle egos or to make your friend happy. if the Thunder plan on making this a series, they have to win Game 3, or the series will be all but over. They have to play almost perfect basketball to compete with the Spurs, who have quietly molded into the sort of juggernaut not seen since the 2001 Lakers. With 20 straight wins and counting, the Spurs are quietly morphing into an All-Time great team that will forever be etched in the history books.

Who Wins Game 3?

    Who Wins Game 3?
  • Spurs 20.8%
  • Thunder 79.2%
  • Total votes: 53

The Thunder doesn’t have the depth to match the Spurs. sure they have two All-Stars and the Sixth Man of the Year James Harden, but when the ancient Derek Fisher plays 24.5 minutes per game, you don’t have a deep bench. Fisher was the only other player aside from Harden to score off the bench. five players from the Spurs bench registered point in Game 2.

This isn’t rocket science for the Thunder.

They have the best player in this series, the opposition hasn’t been able to consistent contain him and it’s the only real advantage they have. the Spurs are controlling this series both mentally and physically, and only the scoring champ can bail them out.

But until Westbrook swallows his prides and accepts this, the Spurs are going to leave Oklahoma City on a 22-game winning streak.
