I hope I got your brain churning last week about considering your nutrition, exercise and overall health. but now you are thinking, “Great, I know I need to make some changes but how it the world do I even begin?”

Four pieces of advice to help you get started:1. you are the only person that can motivate yourselfYou can read a million blogs, set new Year’s resolutions, find a gym buddy or personal trainer, but at the end of the day they are useless if you don’t want it yourself. you are the only one who makes the decision between happy hour and the gym, a cupcake or an apple. Make your choice and go for it! do it for you because you deserve it!

2. Realize doing it right takes time!Like everything else in life, you have to put in the hard work to get the results you want. Sure, eating only celery for three days straight is going to help you lose a couple of pounds very quickly. but you’ll only gain the weight back when you start eating real food again (believe me I know!) Eating healthy and working out doesn’t give you immediate results, but over time you will see change in your body, energy and self-confidence, so be patient and enjoy the ride!

3. Make a goalYeah, yeah, everyone tells you make a goal and work hard to achieve it. Yes, I guess I am going to be one of those people as well. but before you disregard it completely, I am talking about goals such as going to the gym three times a week or eating carrots at least once a day. Small personal goals will give you a sense of accomplishment! Setting goals can provide motivation and shows that we are capable of accomplishing what we put our minds too.

4. in the words of Nike, “JUST DO IT!”Let go of any excuses, get off the couch and do it. Easier said than done, I know, but no one regrets being healthy and happy, at least not that I know of!
