'Real Housewives' Alex McCord to Dish About Motherhood on New CafeMom Web Series (Video)

VIDEO: Behind the Scenes of the 'Real Housewives' THR Cover Shoot

McCord will be appearing with original Melrose Place star and CafeMom.com co-founder Andrew Shue on the original YouTube channel, CafeMom Studios, on a web talk series called Coffee Shop Confessions.

“It’s Andrew and three moms – I’m one of the moms,” McCord tells The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s a more conservative religious mom, you’ve got hippy granola chick mom, and I guess I’m sort of the saucy, inappropriate one.”

Premiering on April 6, Shue — himself a father of five — presents McCord, Timberly Whitfield and Julia Knight with different mom confessions the site has gathered and the women will weigh in on them.

“It was such a phenomenal group of women,” McCord says. “And it was everything you want a group of women to be as far as egging each other on and supporting each other in a positive way and everyone being funny and building on top of one another. And no one was tearing anyone down, oddly enough.”

The confessions range from the comedic and peculiar like “My son’s name is Spongebob,” to the possibly unspeakable such as, “I’m secretly skipping my birth control, so I can get pregnant again.”

“each episode starts with a funny little dialogue and we’re chitchatting,” she says. “then, we watch the reenactment of whatever crazy confession it is and then react to it. whether it’s, ‘Oh, my God, that’s a Tuesday. I do that every day. That’s no big deal,’ or ‘That mother should be lit on fire.’ And we certainly didn’t always agree, which I though was the beautiful part.”

After Bravo decided not to renew her contract last September, McCord says she and husband Simon Van Kempen have been placing a lot of effort into their bedding and bath textile business Aluxe Home, her children, and charity work.

Additionally, McCord says the couple is seriously vetting possible television opportunities, which includes ongoing talks with Bravo.

“as far as future reality [series] for us,” she explains. “We don’t want to have to play defense… we don’t want to put ourselves out there for that kind of toxicity again. So whatever we do next, we want to make sure it’s the right show. I would rather not do a show than set myself up with the wrong show.”

How Long Until Ashton Kutcher Starts Dating His Former Stepdaughter Rumer Willis?

Posted by admin | Posted in dating | Posted on 09-03-2012-05-2008

As soon as Ashton Kutcher started dating Demi Moore in 2003, I pointed out to anyone who would listen that Ashton was closer in age to her daughter, Rumer Willis, than he was to her. But everyone looked at me like I was stabbing love in the eye and said it didn’t matter. But I thought it mattered, I thought it mattered a lot. he was 25, Demi was 40 and Rumer Willis was 14.

Not only was Ashton only 11 years older than his stepdaughter, but when he started dating her mother, he was in his Hollywood heyday. in 2003 alone he starred in 3 movies and probably 3 million girls’ dreams. Rumer herself admitting to crushing on him in his youth.

I remember having heated discussions with my friends about whether we could date him. yes, he was beautiful. But he also came off like an idiot in interviews. were we ready to sacrifice our need for intelligent conversation just to stare at a chiseled male model turned actor?  We never resolved the ongoing moral debate because he married Demi Moore in 2005.

Their against-all-odds marriage turned out to be against all the odds when they separated this year amidst rumors of cheating, threesomes, and other assorted sex scandals. The cradle robber was all robbed out and she threw Ashton back on the streets (or he proudly walked to the streets after breaking up with her, depends what your tabloid of choice is).

And now, just months after separating, Ashton’s out partying with Demi’s daughter 23-year-old daughter Rumer Willis. according to X17, “Rumer Willis and Demi’s ex Ashton Kutcher hit the town in Hollywood Tuesday night for some late-night partying at The Sayers Club.”

Classy former stepfather move Ashton. I know she’s legally allowed to party, but should her former stepfather be doing it with her? did the two former family members just want to spend some quality time together to celebrate Rumer’s singing performance?

Or could this be the beginning of a phenomenally trashy Hollywood romance? They did live together already and now their age difference is hardly a concern. Wouldn’t be that crazy for them to make that leap from family to family, if you know what I mean. Introducing him to her parents wouldn’t be quite so stressful.

So in the spirit of speculation, I wonder what the next move will be for Ashton and Rumer? Friends or lovers?

Lifetime Movie Network is standing by waiting for the answer.

Patricia Heaton Pens Memoriam to Andrew Breitbart

Heaton, the star of ABC's the Middle and formerly of Everybody Loves Raymond, is perhaps the highest-profile of Hollywood's known conservatives to write of her association with Breitbart in any depth since his death at age 43.

"He did everything with such aplomb, with such joie de vivre, with such a jolly chutzpah that can only come from someone who is both Jewish and Irish!" Heaton wrote in a piece published Friday.

"somehow he was able to be everywhere all at once, instantly responding to texts and emails, always ready to right a wrong, to stand up and fight for you."

By "you," Heaton meant the readers of Big Hollywood, a site Breitbart created for those in the TV and film industry who lean right politically.

Another actor weighing in at big Hollywood was Robert Davi, best known for his tough-guy roles in Die Hard, License to Kill and the Goonies.

"yes, dear friends, Andrew was a force of nature — a Navy SEAL in journalism who would dive deep into periled waters to uncover the truth and remove the minefields of lies and misinformation," Davi wrote.

Also writing a memoriam at big Hollywood was five for Fighting pop star John Andrasik, who credited Breitbart for giving him the courage to admit he is a conservative in the liberal entertainment industry.

"Andrew had the back of those who worried about a backlash to their livelihood," wroteOndrasik. "He was the bodyguard, the kid who stood up to the bullies. He was the bouncer you couldn't elbow out of the doorway."

"I loved Andrew Breitbart," Ondrasik wrote. "this is brutal."

‘The Lorax’ movie and the kids who protected Dr. Seuss’ message

Posted by admin | Posted in dr seuss | Posted on 02-03-2012-05-2008

The movie adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” hits theaters Friday. but a group of fourth graders from Brookline, Massachusetts has already seen it.

They were given their own pre-screening last week, a sort of victory party for the young fans and their teacher. If you haven’t heard of this Brookline group, let’s back up.

Environmental stewardship is central to Lorax’s original story, where the misguided Once-ler ruins a blissful Eden in his quest for fortune. The story also suggests that compassionate individuals need to stand up to wrongdoing wherever they see it.

The big-budget Universal Studios adaptation has been in the works for years. as sometimes happens in Hollywood, the story upon which the movie was based was outshone as stars such as Zac Effron and Taylor Swift signed on to the project.

The movie trailer is here:

Enter the group of fourth-graders.

A few months back, some of those students checked out the movie’s Web site and noticed that it didn’t mention the original book’s environmentalist themes. a cynical adult may have rolled his eyes and moved on. not these kids.

With the help of their teacher, Ted Wells, the students created a video and an online petition asking Universal to revamp the movie’s Web site and publicity campaign. The kids wanted the studio to use their might and money to spread the Lorax’s save-the-planet message.

The petition hit a nerve. One day last month, the class checked the petition site and saw their petition take off. it was drawing 10 new names a minute. “ ‘Wowwww!’ the kids were screaming,’ Wells later described.

The petition drew more than 50,000 signatures and garnered national attention. Even better, the campaigned worked.

The studio overhauled the Web site. it now includes links to tips for helping the environment and to lesson plans. Wells said a studio executive told him officials had planned to add the features but the petition encouraged them to do it more quickly.

“I couldn’t be more proud of my 4th graders!” Wells wrote on the Change.org online petition where students collected signatures.

He went on to quote from the original Lorax text: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

I followed up with Wells this week. he said Universal gave him 150 tickets to invite his class, their siblings and parents to a pre-screening last week.

Did they like it? “great movie,” he said. “The green message is strong.”

What’s the next class project?

“Possibly taking on phone book waste or sales catalogs,” Wells said. “It’s up to the kids.”

Searching For That Memorable Oscar Moment on Academy Awards Night

Posted by admin | Posted in academy awards | Posted on 26-02-2012-05-2008

Reported by Scott Shafer on The California Report

Millions of people will tune in tonight hoping to see a memorable Oscar moment, like the famous one from 1985 best-actress winner Sally Field. “You like me. Right now, you like me!” Sally Field.

“People like it because it was very spontaneous, very from the heart. It was also very humble,” says L.a.-based communications coach LeeAundra Keany. “That’s one of the key things you need to see in an Oscar speech, you need to see humility. But later on people thought it was a little too girlish. and it was so easy to mock.”

Keany has some Hollywood clients and she says the stars don’t always shine on Oscar night. “If they just thought about it for a few minutes while they were getting their hair washed, while they were getting their nails dried, they would probably do a much better job because ultimately you want a speech that’s short, sincere and eloquent. if you can be funny all the better.”

Keany says there’s lots of reasons potential Oscar winners don’t plan ahead. like — they don’t want to jinx it.

“So a lot of people are superstitious about preparing. Some people feel its presumptuous. They don’t want to appear arrogant; they don’t want the audience to think they actually think they might win. if you pull out a sheet of notes, people might think you expected to win.”

Everyone seems to have their favorite and least favorite Oscar moments. a common theme, says Keany, is spontaneity.

“One of the examples that people seem to like very much is when Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won for best screenplay or good will hunting, and they were just all over the board, jumping up and down and yelling, and shouts out to Boston.”

Style Expert SuChin Pak: Closed Set with Julie Bensman

Posted by admin | Posted in fashion | Posted on 22-02-2012-05-2008

Fashion Week has finally come to a close and left in its wake a flurry of Tweets, party pictures, runway reviews, blog posts, and seemingly every other information medium into which the fashion set can sink its manicured claws. It’s this time of year when every lady with internet access thinks of herself as a fashion expert, putting her sartorial thoughts into the universe.

when reading up on last week’s top style stories, separating journalistic neophytes from industry veterans can be a laborious task – luckily, I caught up with one of the latter to give me the full scoop (and then some). you know her from MTV back in the day, and doing red-carpet duty for Access Hollywood, but recently, SuChin Pak has been scouring the city as DailyCandy.com’s latest correspondent. in between presentations and parties, I caught up with Pak to chat luxe layers, Lin-sanity and the power of a power belt.

Julie Bensman: new York Fashion Week is over! what were some personal highlights?

SuChin Pak: Catching up with friends that don't live in NYC is always the best. I've been a huge fan of LA-based stylist Chriselle for a while now and we got to catch up on shoes, boys, and everything in between over the best bowl of soba noodles at Cocoron in the LES. that and, of course, being wildly distracted with Jeremy Lin!

JB: what are the three biggest trends you're spotting for Fall 2012?

SP: Luxury. and by that I mean the mixing of different textures, knits, silk, metallic, and lace, layered and chopped up together: Rebecca Minkoff, Derek Lam, J.Crew, and Rodarte all had huge elements of this trend. by far, though, seeing the Prabal Gurung collection made me salivate. from heaven to hell, he captures light and dark in one dramatic swoop.

JB: Which labels would we find in your closet?

SP: More United Bamboo than anything. Opening Ceremony, Zara, J. Crew, YSL in heavy rotation. I have a lot of vintage costume jewelry from the best kept secret, Estate Jewels by George and Raf. It's amazing what one small broach can do to a simple J. Crew cardigan.

JB: What's the best piece of style advice you've ever received?

SP: If you have a power belt and heels on, everything else is just in-between stuff. I'm a big believer in mixing highs and lows.

JB: Which celebrities nail it every time on the red carpet?

SP: Charlize Theron never fails; Nicole Richie and Joel Madden always make it their own; and Gwen Stefani often gives me goose pimples.

JB: Fashion aside, what projects are you currently working on?

SP:  I'm doing a lot of trend and style pieces for E! and Access Hollywood for DailyCandy and I'm continuing to write, develop, and pitch for DailyCandy every day. We're starting the new season for Hester Street Fair, my outdoor shop and eat market in the lower East side. Doors open officially April 28!

JB: Fashion and food, the best of both worlds! Where are some of your favorite NYC spots?

SP: I rarely leave the 10-block radius of the LES; Cocoron for soba noodles; Sons of Essex for a good night out that doesn't involve a lot of fuss; and An Choi for Pho cravings… Of course, in the warmer weather, there’s nothing like digging into a Luke's Lobster Roll at Hester Street Fair. as far as shopping goes, I love the vintage at new World Order, seeing the delightful surprises at top Hat, and Opening Ceremony to make sure you're in touch with what's what!

JB: What's the last thing you Googled?

Fashion and food, felines and food…it all sounds good to me.
