Myla Sinanaj: Dating Kris Humphries for Some Reason!

It looks like Kim Kardashian is not the only one to somehow pick up the pieces from her 72-day marriage and move on.

Despite a denial from Kris Humphries himself – after photos leaked of him and a woman on a beach in Miami and he claimed she was someone he only met that day – TMZ confirms the power forward DOES have a new girlfriend. her name is Myla Sinanaj.

Sinanaj and Humphries have reportedly been dating since January, with the latter providing courtside seats for his new woman and her family to watch him play basketball.

Sources say she the pair met at the fancy new York City hotel where Sinanaj works. we can only assume this hotel does not ever get Internet access.

Or newspaper delivery. or cable. or any medium that would identity Humphries as the immature bonehead he has proven himself to be.

No comment so far from anyone in either side of the couple’s camp.

Coldplay honors Adam Yauch with ‘Fight for Your Right’ cover

Coldplay songs easily make the transition into melancholia. maybe it's the minor keys, the comfortably soft vocals of Chris Martin or the pristine, almost sparkly clean production. Whatever the exact ingredient, even when Coldplay flashes its more energetic, anthemic side, it does so modestly, with an aw-shucks earnestness.

So when the moment calls for an eulogy, Coldplay is as fine a choice as any. the British superstars completed a three-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, a day when the music community was in mourning over the loss of Beastie Boy founder Adam Yauch. Coldplay didn't let the moment go unnoticed.

The group took one of the Beastie Boys' signature songs and turned it into a piano-driven ballad. the new York trio's "(You Gotta) Fight for your Right (to Party!)" was one of the act's earliest hits, released on the groundbreaking debut album "Licensed to Ill." In original form it's a playfully exuberant send-up of youthful rebellion. In Coldplay's hands, it is, perhaps unsurprisingly, something far more somber.

PHOTOS: Adam Yauch |1964 – 2012

In a video that captured the Coldplay performance, there are cheers of recognition from the Hollywood Bowl crowd when Martin sings the opening line, but it isn't until he gets to the chorus that it becomes clear to even the most casual of Beastie Boy fans which tune Martin is singing. Coldplay disregards the original's punk rock momentum, and instead gently reshapes the song with a lulling piano melody, one slightly reminiscent of R.E.M.'s "Nightswimming," perhaps.

It isn't until the second chorus that Martin's bandmates really join in, and the song ebbs into a finale after a glimmering guitar solo. Martin asks the crowd to sing along, but this version is more fit for a slow dance than a celebration. nevertheless, the crowd overtakes Martin on the song's last verse, which name-checks the Beastie Boys. "We're sending all our love to the Beastie Boys," Martin adds before bringing the song home.

Coldplay also performed the song during its appearance at the KROQ Weenie Roast on Saturday — as did the Orange County punk rockers Pennywise, though that band gave it a much more more high-energy treatment. a simple little ditty of teenage rebellion, "Fight for your Right" is proving to be one of the Beastie Boys' lasting legacies.

Ryan Seacrest: 5 Things I Learned From Dick Clark

Posted by admin | Posted in ryan seacrest | Posted on 02-05-2012-05-2008

This past week, I mentioned frequently that Dick Clark was an enormous influence in my life. I really don't know how to aptly express my affection and admiration for this man. but I'll try.

When I was a kid, I would study his ease and comfort in front of the camera on American Bandstand. He made it look so easy! It was only later that I learned just how hard it is to be in front of the camera and to maintain your cool. Even after my nearly 15 years on TV, I still marvel at Dick's skill and flair and find it beyond surreal to be even mentioned in the same sentence as him the past few days. I don't know if I'll ever be as good as he was, but I will definitely try. all I do know right now is that I am still striving to be "Dick Clark cool."

PHOTOS: Dick Clark's Life in Pictures

After we met in 2003, and when I joined the new Year's Eve show a few years later, we had countless conversations about how to deliver to audiences what they want, producing and the power of great storytelling. here are a few things I remember from our talks about how to make your way successfully in the broadcast business:

Be Nice

Not surprisingly, my mom was a Dick Clark fan, too. Sure, he was known for his boyish looks, but he was also a true gentleman — always, without exception. He opened doors for ladies. He sent cards and gifts and other kind mementos to his family, friends, colleagues and fans. but most of all, he always said, "thank you." He once told me, "Little things really do matter." and those two small words definitely do.

People are Just People

Dick was wonderful at making people feel at ease, and he did so by treating every person he met as a friend. He didn't discriminate and was not discerning with his kindness. He made everyone feel as if they were the only one in the room. on air, I try to give my undivided attention to whomever I am talking to. because when you do, you know what? they respond. they truly deliver genuine emotion or a relatable story. It sounds simple, but it works.

Look beyond the Camera

Dick was an amazing broadcaster. but he decided early on that he wanted to be in the business and not just a face in front of the camera. He passed this advice on to me, and I haven't looked back. I love being a radio and TV host. but I also love being part of the business in a meaningful way, as it gives you more choices. Being a producer has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. and I will never forget being a producer alongside Dick — that was a dream come true.

Build a Great Team

Dick was a shrewd businessman, but he was a terrific boss. many of the people who worked with him did so for more than 30 years. like every great producer, he pushed us all to be better all the time, every day in fact, and he didn't always sugarcoat his directives. but he also was funny and generous along the way and rewarded those around him. I try to do the same.

Refuse to Be a Quitter

Dick faced some enormous challenges after his stroke. and despite facing public criticism for fighting through those challenges on-air, he refused to quit what he loved doing most. I admired this fighting spirit, and I think many others did, too. in the end, he was a real inspiration to so many people. If only more of us remembered the strength and grace generated from sticking to your guns. I hope I will have the courage to always stick to mine.

Dear John, I Still Miss You « Dawne Webber

Another year has passed. It’s been seven since I saw you last. I’ve been thinking a lot about you. when you died my biggest fear was that I’d forget something about you and our last day together; I wanted to remember every tiny detail always.  The other fear that haunted me was that one day it would get easier and I wouldn’t miss you so much. So I’m grateful for the memories I have and I’m grateful for the bittersweet ache they leave in me.

I’ll be honest. I don’t dwell on you anymore. That makes it easier. for the first year, I hugged close everything that reminded me of you: photos, videos, memories and especially music. but I can’t hug those things anymore because they’re too sharp and they cut through the scar tissue that took so long to grow on my shattered heart. sometimes when you flit across my memory I find myself shaking my head just as I did  after you died, because I can’t comprehend that you are gone from here.

But I’ve decided this won’t be a day for sadness. I went to Mass this morning and I saw S² eyeing me with concern. I smiled at him and told him truthfully that I just had a tickle in my throat (Easter flowers and incense can do that). now I sit in the fading sun and think of you.

We’ve always shared a passion for reading, writing and music. when you were a toddler, you’d put on a pair of star-shaped sunglasses, sit at a little piano shaped box and lip-sync to Elton John’s greatest hits. We called you “Elton Johnny”. It was the only time Mom and Dad listened to Elton John without complaint, so we had you do it often. when you were a little older, we played school. I swore for years I taught you to read, but after trying to teach my own children, I wonder…

Remember the summer you were turning sixteen? Dave had moved to Cleveland for his new job. you and Mom stayed in upstate New York to help me sell the house. We were really into Pink Floyd that year and we discovered Wish you were Here. I have a hard time listening to it now. you brought books about the band, which I read when you were done. Then we’d talk about Syd Barrett and debate about Roger Waters and David Gilmour while we worked on my yard. you did a lot of yard work for me so I told you I take you out to dinner. you wanted steak and lobster. Funny thing for a fifteen-year-old to want for dinner, but typical for you.

Remember that same summer going to the mall parking lot late at night so you could practice driving a stick shift before getting your driver’s license? We saw a UFO hovering above the woods next to the mall. It was amazing, but we never told anyone about it because we knew no one would believe it.

We both love Chris Cornell’s voice. One Christmas I shared his version of Ave Maria with you, but I don’t think you heard it over the football game. Then you shared Audioslave with me. after you died, I got your CD and listened to it constantly. I can’t listen to Audioslave anymore. That annoys me frankly, because I really like them.

But I can listen to  “United States of Whatever” by Liam Lynch. you turned my kids onto it. after they listened to it a million times a day, it grew on me. Do you remember when we found the video? Wow. Liam was not the cool Eminem-type I’d imagined. but we loved the video and watched it a million times too.

And tonight, as I looked up the video to add it as a link to this post you, my little, beloved brother John, gave me a gift. A video I’d never seen of Dave Grohl, drummer extraordinaire (and my favorite), playing/pounding  his little heart out with Liam Lynch on United States of whatever. and I’ll go to bed with a smile on my face, which is a gift I hadn’t expected on this of all nights.

Skip ahead sixty seconds. The quality improves greatly.

PS-Is it mandatory for great drummers to chew gum?

We Eat Less Healthy Than We Think [Infographic]

Last February, Massive Health raised $2.5 million in seed funding to help people improve their health through better data, design, social and game mechanics. their goal has been to bridge the world’s of healthcare and consumer products, using mobile phones as sensors that collect real-time data about a user’s behavior. The company wants to analyze the data collected to tighten the feedback loop for patients of chronic diseases and help them improve their behavior.

Their first experiment with this is The Eatery,  an iPhone app that helps users track and analyze their eating patterns to better understand their strengths, weaknesses and the best places to make changes in their diet. Users snap photos of their food, and then rate its health on a scale from “Fit” to “Fat.” Users then receive crowdsourced feedback on the healthfulness of their eating habits from community members.

Collecting large-scale, real-time data about people’s diets, not just self-reported details about their eating habits, is nearly impossible. yet, this data could help us and the medical community better address the rising obesity and diabetes epidemics. over the past 5 months, Massive Health has collected over 7.68 million food ratings from people in 50 countries. Today, they are releasing some of their key findings  about how people think they eat (and how healthy they actually eat), where people eat, what they eat, when they eat, and who they eat with, as a series of infographics.

But can crowdsourced data be trusted?

“Famously, one of the most accurate ways to guess the number of jellybeans in a jar is to average the guesses of everyone in the room,” writes Massive Health co-founder and Chief Vision Officer Aza Raskin on the company blog. “The crowd-sourced method beats much more advanced algorithms. to test our hunch that the same applied in nutrition, we looked at the aggregate Eatery scores for all meals eaten in a city versus the published obesity level in that city. it turns out there’s a strong correlation. Eatery data can accurately predict obesity levels of cities in the United States. That is, Eatery data strongly correlates with the healthiness of its users.”

Massive Health has broken the infographics into five parts. Below is the infographic detailing how healthfully we think we eat. Click here to be directed to the infographics on when, where, what, and with who people eat.

One of the interest key findings is that people eat 12.4 percent less healthy than users actually think they do. in fact, the less healthy the food is, the less accurate users tend to rate it. Pizza, for example, is rated 2.8 times less healthy by others than by the user.

You can join us in the challenge for fun or to win some FABULOUS prizes! at the end of the 12 days our judges will pick the winners. More info. to come on our lovely judges and great prizes.

How to join in the challenge:

  1. Take lots of photos of your mommy moments and be creative in the process using the prompts. Be inspired by your family and have fun! You can start snapping away now and between April 16th- may 11th stop by and enter your photo.
  2. Post your photos on your blog with or without a caption (it can be more than one picture each day) and put our button (grab button code from sidebar)on the post so we know that this is a Photo challenge picture. Use the prompts to let us know what day this picture is from.
  3. Every time you snap a picture that you’re proud of and want to link up stop by our Linky here and add it using as your title the prompt title that this picture is for. The Linky will go live on April 16th- may 11th.
  4. You can link up to 12 pictures to our challenge but you can take as many as you want to post on your blog. they do have to be pictures that you have taken for this challenge from April 16th-May 11th photos and you need to identify the post as a Challenge picture with our button on your post. if there is more than one picture in the post, make it EXTRA CLEAR as to WHICH ONE YOU WANT JUDGED.

  6. May 12th our judges will go by and check out your photos and choose their top picks based on creativity, originality and composition. You can use your phone, point & shoot, DSLR camera or whatever camera you have to take your pictures. You don’t have to be a professional nor have pro equipment to take good pictures.
  7. We would love it if you would FOLLOW us here at Inspired by Family and  The Hollie Rogue through one of these venues either: FB, Twitter, RSS feed or subscribe by email! it would butter our biscuit to know you are following along on our journey of all things family!
